State Level Orientation Camp for Yuvajana Vibhagam on 11th & 12th February 2012

The Yuvajana Vibhagam of Kerala Brahmana Sabha is organising a two-day orientation camp at Chinmaya International Foundation at Piravom, Ernakulam on 11th and 12th of February 2012. The two-day camp is named 'Nirvaha 2012' which will be attended by the state committee members of Yuvajana Vibhagam. Dr. P. S. Raman, State Vice President will inaugurate Nirvaha 2012 on 11th of February at 4.30 p.m. P. Ananthasubramaniam, State General Secretary will grace the occasion with his presence. Niravaha 2012 is an initiative to understand the organisation more precisely, said C. G. Kiran, State President of Yuvajana Vibhagam. N. R. Parameswaran, R. Suresh, Mohandas S. (State Joint Secretaries), G. Mony (District President, Alapuzha), H. Ramanathan (District President, Kottayam), D. Murthy (District Secretary, Thrissur) and T. S. Viswanatha Iyer (State Committee Member) will handle sessions on various topics. 50 participants from all districts of Kerala will attend the camp.

Asraya Bhavan inaugutared at Thrissur

Asraya Bhavan, a home for the poor and destitutes of the Brahmin community was inaugurated at Moorkanikkara, Thrissur on 29th January 2012 by Honourable Justice of Kerala High Court, V. Chidambaresh. In his inaugural address, he said elders are an asset to every family and we should try our maximum to accomodate them with the family. Asraya Bhavan is something like a 'home away from home' and hence perfect screening is required to select the inmates, he added. The meeting was chaired by S. Sivaramakrishnan, District President, Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Thrissur. In his presidential address, he expressed his gratitude to all well wishers who contributed to the project, especially to Veembil Samooham, who donated the land before 26 years back. Dr. V. Ramalingam, State President of Kerala Brahmana Sabha handed over the key to the inmates. A. K. Vaidyanathan, aged 83 received the key from Dr. V. Ramalingam. He appreciated the sincere efforts of Thrissur district of Kerala Brahmana Sabha to materialise the Asraya Bhavan project. Friends and well wishers including senior and State leaders from all over Kerala attended the function.

The evening commenced with a rythm fusion lead by Mridangam artist Kuzhalmandam Ramachandran. The inaugural meeting started at 6.00 p. m. with a Veda chant. The dignotories were welcomed to the dias and draped by Ponnadai as a token of love and respect. T. S. Kalyanaraman (Vice President, Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Thrissur Town Unit) delivered the introductory speech in which he briefed the efforts strength behind the project. Dr. P. S. Raman (State Vice President), P. Ananthasubramaniam (State General Secretary), T. S. Viswanatha Iyer (State Committee Member, Kerala Brahmana Sabha), Sujatha Baburajan (President, Nadathara Grama Panchayath), V. Parameswaran (Project Co-ordinator, Asraya Bhavan) and V. A. Krishnan (Member, Theroth Siva Temple) also addressed the gathering. Prof. Deva Narayanan (President, Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Town Unit, Thrissur) delivered welcome speech and N. R. Parameswaran, Secretary, Central Zone said the vote of thanks.

Asraya Bhavan is located on the banks of the river Thrikkoor Puzha in Nadathara Grama Panchayath, near Theroth Siva Temple at Moorkkanikkara. 10 rooms on twinsharing basis with all modern facilities including Medical Room are equipped here. A Prayer hall and a Recreation room is also set up here for the inmates. Mukthi Bhavan, a place for 'Aparakriya' which is open to all community members has also started functioning here.
